WHOA new air filter imporved my accleration A LOT

So here's some photos of the old air filter, I didn't think it was that dirty at all. I just wanted to go ahead and replace it lol.

Well, I put it in there, and I saw that the cabin that the air filter was in, was just hanging there. It was barely attached to the (engine bay? Idk what it's hocked to, but it's the side of the engine bay I guess). Look at the photo. It was was below where it was supposed to be. I didn't notice it at first, but when I went to go re attach it to the intake, once the new filter was in, and it wouldn't re attach. The hooks weren't even in range of the intake.
I'm guessing that means it wasn't attached fully the entire time, like a giant leak.

So I put it where it was supposed to be, and when I finished, I took it for a drive, and it was like driving a new car. I have never seen it accelerator so quickly.

Sorry if this isn't making sense, I don't know how to word it, and I'm really excited lmao.

Bet you fuel filter has not been changed in a while. Change that next for improved acceleration.

Man, I've got to feel more confident to be able to do that lol. This is my first car, besides a '90 Buick Century that I had for a couple months before I got my license. The only things that I've ever done myself are simple things like replacing fuses, and putting in a new female spade for the break light switch, and today replacing the air filter. I'm finally starting to learn how to do things on my own though, I know fuses and the break light switch aren't hard things to do AT ALL, but I've learned all of that from this forum in the course of less than a week. I'll have to Youtube it or something.[COLOR="Silver"]

Wow! How long has it been since that got a change?? mine doesn't even look dirty to me, at all. But ever since I put the new one in, that thing jumps off a stoplight quicker than I have ever seen it do. I'm thinking that it was the way it was connected or something, because it had to have been hanging slightly off the intake (see the picture). Like the on the bottom of the air filter cabin, some of that wasn't on the intake pipe.

should of spent $10 more at Advance for a spectre high flow but glad the new paper filter helped. i'd go ahead and take that dang air silencer off as well it's just a restriction. (its the rubber tube that goes in the wheel well)

Much better, much better, i have an Auto and she pulls so much better now with the new SR filter on the highway. It was like if I punch it there would be a bit of a lag but now it's so smooth and flawless accelerating now. Compared to now to how it was it felt like she was trying so hard to breathe before. I kinda feel bad I didn't do this a long time ago. I can only imagine if I had a tuner and mid pipe what she would feel like.
