**Serious problem**

I've just recently noticed this sound when I brake and occasionally when I step on the gas. It sounds like a taser(weird but concerning). Seems to be coming from my dash. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Should I be concerned with driving around. Does it need to be fixed, I'm short on money right now

there are two wires going up to your brake light switch...they are notorious for burning out (i've had 3 '04 mustangs and they all had this issue). that tazer noise could be an arc passing between the wires if they are shorting. i'd check and see

here's how i fix them...i remove the box that connects the wires to the brake light switch...it's literally just two female wire ends inside the box (i took it apart to be sure)...i just spliced in un damaged wire and added female ends. cheap and nice fix for a frustrating issue to track down.

just make sure you put the two wires to the correct end lol

Okay I understand everything your saying about the shorting and the arc. Just confused on the location of the two wires

Should I be concerned driving around with this problem? Iv had brake failure before and I don't want to go through that again.

Your brake lights wont work but shouldnt effect your brakes.

The brake lights seem fine, even as the taser noise is happening

well there is for sure something grounding that shouldn't behind your dash. pop out the cluster and look behind it to see if you can spot burn marks on the metal
