**help!! 02 mustang problem? **

I have an 02 v6 mustang that has 130,000 miles on it. About 1-3 times a month when I stop at a light the car will die. At first I thought it was because I had my stereo and air conditioner both blasting, but then about 2 weeks later I had them both off and it happened again. Its completely random and I can't figure out what the problem is. My neighbor said it could be something to do with the fuel system? Also, the last time it happened (2 weeks ago) a weird noise started to come from the bottom of the car that sounds like a squirrel or chipmunk. Anyone have any ideas?

Don't let go of the clutch pedal lol COULD be possible theres something wrong with the fuel system. Have you checked the spark plugs, wires, and coil pack? Air filter? Maf sensor?

no haven't checked those. I took it to a shop and they said they couldn't do anything till the check engine light comes on.

I'm sure if the car is at the point where its dying on you then it'd be obvious that the spark plugs would look bad lol. Other than these issues I wouldn't know much. Hopefully someone else with more knowledge jumps in.

A good tune up will fix those problems. Or DIY. Check trans fluid if it's auto, check clogged catalytic convy, fuel filter, plugs and wire. Research for tune ups.

+1 most of this stuff you'd probably be able to do at home.

Replace the ignition (Spark Plugs, Spark Plug Wires, Coil Pack). I have a 2002 V6 as well and it would sputter when i gave it gas, replaced the ignition and it runs like new.
