3.8 v6 catless?

Should i remove cats or no? My car isnt really a performance car , i like cruising w it, but does removing cats really RUIN your gas milage? Does it also have a long term effect ppl often overlook or ignore? Such as stress on the engine or something like that? I have a 99 v6 3.8L that only has a SR performance cold air intake

There all for sound, if you want it louder remove them

And ps try and use the search bar.. There was a thread just like this, a lot of bickering from a few immature members which I'm sure you may get a little here, but in the end I think there was a little info.

Your IRMCs will not work properly and the car will run a little rich. The IRMCs are located in the lower intake and recycle exhaust emissions. I ran without cats and gained a little hp. I now run with shorty cats and recommend them. The sound is not as good but the car seems to respond better.

just do it. I'm not arguing this. Everyone who has their cats off on a v6 will tell you to do it. I have mine off along with divorced Flowmaster 40s, sounds amazing, runs great. You'll love it.

I just did not have a tune. The smell got bad in Vegas. The west coast needs more green.

You have 4 cat. converters on your car. Shortys are a smaller version of a cat and you only need two. Pipes dynoded them with and without and you almost get the same results. The sound with out cats is loud and a cop attention getter. I had to cut my pipes short when I was without cats because of neighbor hood complaints.

Do they pass the inspection? Bc im in NY So idk how far that goes. So shortys seem like a better idea for me bc theyr not as loud. Anything else about the shortys are differant than the regular cats? Effect on car/engine? Gas milage?

Look at the second pic. and read. Rember this is market hp so it will be more like 10-15 bhp and 15-20 with a tune.I am guessing hp so please do not make me dyno prove.Every mod. counts. I will take constructive intuition. They are 50 state legal and not sure about current California emissions. If you don't buy Pipes and get the same basic setup expect about the same results. Shortys basically flow better freeing up hp. Expect the same gas milage unless you get a tune. If you get a tune the m.p.g. will improve slightly and have a better response.
My uncle owns a Minakee and taught me this.
You will throw a check engine light. This does not mean any thing is wrong with your car. You have 4 o2 sensors. All adjust gas mileage. The back 2 also make sure the cats are not clogged. Basically it sends a different frequency to the comp. if the cats are removed and a check engine light comes on. The factory computer hates learning curves lol.
4 options:
1.The light means noting and my system is ok. Let it stay on.
2.Pull out the cluster and remove the bulb.
3.Buy mill eliminators.
4.Turn the signal off with a tune.
