Rule #1- Avoid eBay unless you already know what specific part you want. Also, make sure your new part doesn't need a tune, if you don't have a tuner.

Rule #2 ...use eBay for a cai...they are all the same and you won't need a tune since you're pre 05.

Thank you so much I actually was going to bid on it. And actually I feel stupid but I don't even know what a tune is? I hope I don't offend anyone but I am fairly new to the mechanic aspect.

Nah you're good man...a tune is a program that modifies your stock computer setup and how it thinks.

On some Mustangs, if you change the amount of air-flow dramatically, you have to re-program the computer with a Tuner so the computer can manage everything. I'm no mechanic either, but am learning a lot as I go.

Just be careful on eBay. If a part is dramatically cheaper there than from reputable stores, there is a reason. Buyer beware.

Good luck to you!

i agree with 1slowsix

an intake is useless anyway without a tune. but at least they look sexy under the hood

Thank you guys for the help, was going to try and do this one without the shop, but if it has to be tuned then may be better to let them do it.

A CAI on pre 2005 is a piece of cake. Basically plug and play, don't take it to a shop where they'll charge you double what you pay for the intake. It's mainly for looks. I got tired if the CAI look so I decided to go with a friends setup

Which manufacture is this? I am pretty handy and am willing to put in the wrench time. Also thank you for your time.

Pretty much homemade. Used an SR CAI tube, exposed MAF sensor, spectre filter and basically bolted the MAF to the filter and that's it

Unless you mess with the size of the mass air flow sensor housing the intake will not require a tune.

What about the throttle body and if you got a spacer? Mines running fine without a tune kinda rough when I turn her off though

Nope won't matter...the tb is really just a paper weight without forced induction and the spacer doesn't add anything.. it does smooth out the rpm climb slightly but that's it.

It is just a stock 3.8 v6 so I don't think I have any upgrades what's so ever on it. But I am trying to YouTube all theses things and there isn't anything about a tb spacer. Will google it so I have a better idea. Thank you for all your help everyone

Put a big cam in it, and a windstar intake (the manifold itself not the intake piping)

Don't get a throttle body spacer. Get an intake to, at least you will get a woosh sound and it will look nice under the hood.

The throttle is a little harder. Like I said before, they came with the car so that's about $3-400 that I didn't spend

Yeah if you listen to anyone on here listen to him! Alot of guys on here get stuck in their ways and tell newbies stuff that they think looks best and to a newbie a CAI is awesome under the good but to them they've owned 100 mustangs. So if you want a damn CAI! Then get a damn CAI and tell them to hop off!

Yes you can do all this yourself except a new cam lol it's all pretty simple CAI is easier than changing or rotating the tires!

So just had a/c recharged, fuel injection flushed, new plugs and wires. A/c still blows out of defroster when I accelerate and there is a low rpm ticking, lol after market parts will have to wait, need to find a mechanic that will stop throwing parts at the car.

Well I also found a bbk throttle body. So if I put the SR Performance cai the bbk tab is ok? Ready to order but also saw that these are extremely hard to miniver in my engine bay

well like said many times on this site...a tb is a waste of money unless you're getting it really really cheap. unless you have forced induction that is. as for the room in your engine bay...you have more then enough room for it
