Question about gears?

Pretty simple question. What are the aftermarket gears I always see people talking about on here? Im new to the car community and im trying to learn more, but I cant figure out what 4.10 or 3.73 means in terms of gears. I have an automatic mustang, so would they even apply to me? And I know I could probably figure out the answer on google, but I thought I could find a little bit more personal answer here, opposed to a general answer through google haha. Thanks for any response in advance!!!

Gears are located in the rear axle, basically what turns the tires,.the bigger the gear the faster the tires turn, 4:10 being bigger than 3:73,also it applies to every car lol, no matter the transmission
