Upgrading V-6 into Cobra/V8

So I am currently in college and drive a 99 V6. The plan was to always keep it and drop a big motor and tranny, something to be proud of. I've already done some work to it, double flow masters, calhood, etc. But I recently blew a head gasket and am having to do something quick. My question is how difficult/costly would it be to drop a new engine in it, whether it be a crate Coyote engine or a used V8? Or would it be better to get another 3.8L and supercharge it...HELP!!!

You would need a COMPLETE parts car inorder to put a V8 in.
The best bang for buck build would probably be a 4.2 swap, It's almost the exact same engine just with a more stroke. Even a stock 4.2 swap would put you at 202hp and 252lb-ft, a good cam would make it sound bad ***. Then top it off with a good tune I would estimate close to 225-230hp(maybe more I'm horrible at estimating) enough to keep-up with the 5.0 gt's and non-pi 4.6 GT's.

A 4.2 shouldn't cost too much used, you can probably rebuild it for $600-800(get a good quality kit, stay away from DNJ brand, my engine seized first start had to buy another kit), Then some higher compression pistons, should be beating the stock 5.0's and Non-pi 4.6 GT's.

If you want a V8 then buy a V8. As was said you need almost a complete donor car to do the swap. I'm not even going to get into why the Coyote is not a good idea for you because you obviously didn't do any Google/forum searches on that swap and what is involved/prices.

The 4.2 is a good idea but I'm not sure why you just don't replace the headgasket and get on with life? Unless it took out the rest of the motor in which case then yeah the 4.2 would be what I would do.

i agree...save till you can make a down payment on a GT or Cobra...and trade your v6 in. Honestly you'll be happier in the end if that's the kind of car you want.

And if you want an easy supercharged swap, look into the Thunderbird Supercoupes. They will bolt right into your car, just need a tune and stronger rear end. Stock theyre 210rwhp 300ftlbs torque and will cost around the same price as the 4.2 swap. I think they run low 12s high 13s in a quarter mile

Don't 3Vs come with some sort of obligatory contract with the Devil?
