Oil leak

Guess who has a serious oil leak..that's right, me. On top of my transmission fluid leak I now have a major oil leak problem.
I change the oil myself every time every 3k miles.
Car takes 5 quarts, and only one..that's right only one quart came out. So four quarts of oil disappeared in two months.

Did you notice leaks in your driveway or garage? Where is it leaking from? If it's leaking, you'd have to be able to find it.

When you change the oil, and replace the filter, are you rubbing a little oil on the filter gasket? Is your car burning the oi?

There's leaks on the driveway, I thought it was only the transmission fluid & I've been topping it off every now and then. But didn't realize it was engine oil because its not leaking from either the oil pan or the filter. And yes I also rub some oil onto the filter gasket. Car doesn't seem to be burning oil because there's no smell or smoke

OK, is there oil leaking from around your cylinder heads or valve covers? Done any work in those areas lately? Worst case scenario is a cracked block, but could just be a leaky gasket. Still a lot of work to fix.

Initial inspection there didn't appear to be any oil leaking visibly around the engine. I had the car on ramps and couldn't see anything. I did some work months ago on two power steering hoses that hit each other and cracked.but I never loosened anything that would leak engine oil

if it's coming out near the transmission it might be the rear main seal.

I actually had a buddy of mine say the exact same thing today. He said I should sell it quick if it really is the rear main seal. Is it a hard fix?

You have to take the engine out, I don't think its expensive just time consuming. Unless you have a shop do it. Then it will probably get expensive. The rear main seal itself I think is $20-30.

You just need to drop the transmission. You don't have to take out the whole engine
