Clutch Squeak on Release

Lately I've been noticing a squeak / noise as I release the clutch. It sounds like an owl's "hoo" when releasing. It happens as release the clutch, not when its fully released or fully pushed in. It also doesn't seem to happen when the car is turned off.

It is a louder "hoo" if I let the clutch out faster (like 2nd to 3rd) compared to starting into 1st. It is really annoying. I feel like something needs to be lubed -- any suggestions on what could be causing this?

Thanks!

Sounds like someone may want to look into a clutch kit and getting your flywheel resurfaced, of replaced.

Mine did the same thing. I was buying the Spec clutch kit and flywheel anyway, so when we pulled out the old stuff. Wow. The throwout bearing was toasted, and the pressure plate had been worn down to the rivets.

Mmm that sounds like money that I don't have to spend... hahaha.

I guess I'll start looking into it if I can't find any other problems.

If your looking to save some money, you can find clutch kits cheaper on rockauto.com. though I am very pleased with the Spec kit.
