95 cobra engine

Ok, a guy around here is selling a 95 cobra short block for $200. He says it is in good shape but needs bearings.

So I'm wondering what else would be required to put this into my 97 and what that would cost.

AFAIK it's nearly identical to a 5.0 shortblock, the heads/cam/intakes
were the difference. I think the pistons were even just hypereutectic.
I don't even believe the casting #'s were any different, you might
check on a board that covers Cobra engines.

In other words, I think it's the same shortblock as any 95 5.0 would have.

I tried to get a 94-95 5.0 Cobra to play with me on the Interstate with me one day, I would pull beside him rock back and forth, rev my engine, and he acted like I was invisible, either he knew I had him, or he was just not interested, I figured he knew he was no match for a 99+ GT. Another thing, they say that a 4.6 is an easier swap into a post 95 V6.
Rick Kilpatrick, AAS Automotive Systems Tech, Alamance Community College, Class of 99. 06 5 speed manual Mustang with Pony pkg : GT Mac Mufflers, true duals with one custom pipe. 2.5" system. GT bumper cover, all installed March 7&8 2006. AFE Stage 1 CAI, Motoblue Underdrive pulley, GT aluminum shifter knob, honeycomb rear blackout panel,and dash kit installed. Roush hood scoop and side window louvers installed. SS taillight trim has been installed, new alum. GT steering wheel installed.
