Third brake light and license plate light problems

Okay so I have no clue how long they haven't been working but my third brake light barely lights up and only in a small spot. And on my license plate lights, the driver's side one doesn't work and the other side you can tell its on but it isn't showing any light

Dude my license plate lights where like gummed up. I replaced them with leds, I also replaced my third brake light ones. You just need some new leds. I don't really remember the size though

Okay cool. And yeah I thought one of them had some black junk on it. Maybe someone who can tell me more will chip in Can't really afford some LED's. Hopefully someone can enlighten me of an alternative

The license plate bulbs are 194's I believe. Also, you can get white LEDs cheap off of amazon. I got 10 for 10 blue ones for my interior about 5 months ago and they work great and haven't died at all

I thought you have to buy some LED resistors or some crap to use them?

I think that's only for the taillights. I didn't use them for my interior and someone on here is using blue ones for their license plate light. I don't think he used the resistors for them

So the pack of 10 LED's would be all I'd need for the third brake light and license plate lights? How many go into the brake light?

I was only talking about the license plate lights. Sorry about that mix up. You'd have to but a new third I'm pretty sure. You just can't take it apart and change out the bulbs. But I'm also not 100% on that. Someone else chime in and correct me

Yes you can, the bulbs are accessible from the trunk, they're a b*tch to take off, i think 4 of them, not sure though, and LEDs on eBay are cheap as hell

I see. OP honestly I'd end up just buying a new one off ebay. I've heard a lot of good reviews about them and they're about $35. That's what I'm going to do soon. My 3rd brake light looks like crap

Your better off buying a new third light. Those bulbs don't just die all at once. Must be something with the harness or electrical.

Mine was the same way, car was perfect but 3rd tail light was scratch, faded, and bent upward like a U so it would let water leak in on a rainy day. I changed mine and solved my cosmetic and leaking problem

One of them halfway works. All of them aren't dead. I don't know if they all went out at once or not. I never see the back of my car when the lights are on. They could've never worked for all I know

Okay so I have the bulb size for both of them, but I need to know if it is okay to run LED's without a resistor in the third brake light?

Just outta curiosity, what're the bulb sizes for the brake light?

Can you show me the ones you got on the exact website? I can find the 906s but I don't want to get ones that are too long to fit in the slot
