All power drained at once?

A weird thing happened this morning. I was driving home from work and when i parked my car at my house for 10 minutes then went back in to go out my whole car had died. Electrical nothing worked, door locks, lights, dash, radio, starter, nothing. I got a jump start then everything was fine then when I came back from a quick drive and parked the same thing happened again? Could it be battery or alternator? Or something else.

It could be a short, but I would have my battery tested first.

I'd say battery as well. Mine did the same thing. Worked fine at the drive in. Went home and wouldn't turn on the next morning. Jump started it and worked fine for a while. Voltage dropped for any little thing I did.

Thanks guys, I dropped off the battery to be charged overnight at autozone so we shall see in the morning. I've never seen the battery drained to the point where the autolocks and dash do not work. Strange, battery is 4 months old, dura last red top

Why do you think autozone has such long warranties on their batteries? Lol

If you put ky jelly or grease on the terminals they will not corrode

Did you check the alternator? Charging system problems can seem like the battery... You could have damaged the alternator with the last battery if it was dead for a while. Could also be a bad cell... Some batteries last a few months, others can last six years.

I know the problems loose or even corroded/acidified terminals can cause. Mine were tight and clean as can be. I put in aftermarket terminals a year ago.

Redo the connection to the terminals. That was my problem

If the starter were bad the dash would still turn on... Sounds like a grounding issue completely draining the battery.

Hey man, I have cut them already. But I'm waiting for my tokico blues to come in and do springs and shocks/struts at the same time.

After a week of research and digging into various budgets I was able to solve my problem. It was the starter/solenoid that gave out causing a Loss of power thought the whole car losing all power at once when trying to start car. As to why the starter causes a complete electrical failure is beyond me, but I got a brand new one and it starts like new. Advice to everyone, patience is the key to removing the starter and even MORE patience and access to a variety of tools is essential for installing it again.

Remove it, have it tested, then if bad buy a new one, install, enjoy.

Thanks everyone
