1997 3.8L V6 pinging/vibration.?

I have a 1997 v6 actually with a 98 3.8L engine(if that matters). I'm fairly knowledgeable with mustangs but be no means an expert.

Anyway, I've searched and searched to no avail to find out what the problem could be. I have a few guesses but I'll save them for now until I get some more opinions.

The problem I am experiencing is.. When My car is stopped say at a stop light or in a parking space and the wheel is turned and I apply very light throttle, just to get moving somewhere in the the engine it is a very fast pinging/ ticking almost a vibration as well is heard and felt. Anymore than very light throttle or if the wheels are straight it no longer persists. The tranny is auto, I have a CAI and true dual exhaust. It is not exhaust pipes rubbing or anything like that.
I'm worried it may be a roller rocker or lifter problem but I'm not very familiar with the workings of the engine internals(yet anyway). The sound/ vibration is not noticeable while cruising or at any other time than from a stop. The sharper the wheels are turned usually the more intense the noise is. Could it be a worn motor mount?

Could this sound be coming from your power steering pump?

Not the power steering pump. I'm sure of that. It sounds like metal to metal. More of a vibration, but definitely an audible one as well. If I let up on the gas the sound stops, same if I give it more gas. The headers are in good shape, no holes, or excessive rust of any sort, I'll defiantly look closely at them. I just have a ~500 mile drive in a few days, I'm concerned if its a valvetrain problem that it will cause other damage from prolonged use. As well as only having the problem when the wheel is turned and at very light throttle it seems odd.
