Auto to manuel transmission

so I drove my buddies mitsu today that's a 5-speed, and I freaking loved it. I love the idea of being able to swap through gears, and it also give me better mpg lmao. But anyways. I know you need the petal assembly, manual computer (or flashed), clutch, flywheel, shifter, and all that stuff. I am looking at an 00 on Craigslist that's a parts car for $700, and my dads been a mechanic, so we could do it possibly ourselves? Also, I have an 01. I know there are a few different things from the 99-00 and 01-04. Does any of that effect the swap? Any and all info Is great. I don't wanna sell my car because I've put a lot of work into it and it's my baby. I'm not ready to sell it yet lol. Thanks everyone!!

Only thing that you have to watch for is engine balance, iirc it was late 01 they swapped to external balance, which means the flywheels and harmonic balancers are different, just be sure to check which yours is. Worst case scenario you have to buy a different flywheel then what that car will have, but the rest from it should be useable.

Ok. I know they mean late 01, but what's considered late 01? What month I guess it means? But ok. I'm thinking about using the write up that's on modded mustangs. It seems pretty good. Thanks for the info though!

If offer him $250 for the tranny and components and take them off myself. Engine looks in pretty bad shape, especially because it was hit in the front end

I was thinking that, but I figured I could make my money back and maybe more. So basically getting the parts for free. Wheels, $100-200. Pretty nice seats, front and back, 150-250. Taillights 50 back bumper cover 50 rear 100 or so. Rear deck lid 75 etc etc.

Sixxer parts are a hard sell though, too common and too many in junk yards, etc. If it were a GT it'd be worth it, but being that's a sixxer i would just offer him $250 and get the tranny and clutch assembly, that way you don't have to deal with trying to make your $700 back.

Yeah you'd be lucky to break even. Then the disposal of the junker is a pita. You can make your money back but I'd take a while

Other then the drivetrain and a couple other components it's all the same. Interior and body wise they're the same. So it wouldn't be any harder then getting rid of those parts off a gt

A lot if people don't know that though. They're hardheaded and won't want to buy it. You tell them "it's from a V6 but it will fit a GT" "oh no thanks it'll break" then if you tell them "it's from a GT but it will fit your V6" "how much?!?!"

That's exactly my point

As long as you have a place to put the shell then I see no problem. I have a project in my garage and my dads about ready to throw it out along with me lol and about the flashing I think it's an upwards of $100. Can't be too sure though

I could always put it in my backyard, and if my parents start yelling I can just take it apart and tell the fenders, doors, etc. or even scrap it lmao. I want this swap so bad. I think it would take us about a week. 3-8 hours a day or so
