Catalyc converter rattles

My passenger side cat is doing a rattle sound. I currently have only 2 cats. I replaced it like 4 months ago. Any idea why it rattles?

Metal shavings left from the cuts?
I think the heat shielding comes loose sometimes.
At worse you need a new cat.

If the cat has gone bad. Can I still drive my car with those conditions?

I'm in the same situation, I'm replacing mine. As long as the rattle is actually coming from inside the cat and not like the heat shield or something.
