5 speed swap? just out of curiosity.

I've been learning how to drive a manual with my grandpas truck, I kinda like it (except that my grandpas truck is a gutless 4cyl ranger, makes my V6 mustang feel like a powerhouse lol)
I'm guessing the best fit would be the 5 speed out of a 94-04 V6 mustang(maybe a 94-95 GT 5-speed if i'm lucky)?
I'm not going to be looking at a new transmission, just used probably lower mileage ones (my auto has close to 170,000 miles on it)
Parts cars are hard to come by, only one wrecking yard about 10 miles away, and none are on the local craigslist.
Will I need a new cross-member or would it bolt in to the existing one?
Will the automatic's ecu cause any problems?

You'll need to get your ecu flashed by the dealer or get a manual computer. You'll need the petal assembly, pressure plate, transmission, manual driveshaft/a different piece that goes on the end of the drive shaft (I cannot remember the same of it at the moment) I believe your crossmember will work

The 8.8s have a different rear end for autos and manuals, but I am not sure about the 7.3s. You can call a recycle center if you get serious about doing it

I already have an 8.8 and it came off of a manual mustang GT, I sold a manual drive shaft with the wrecked GT I had.
Kinda wishing I kept that drive shaft now.

Does the ecu need to be flashed? As long as it doesn't affect the throttle I don't see how it would interfere with it.

An automatic computer in a manual car just doesn't do good lol. You go to swap the gears manually, but your car says to change gears once you hit a certain rpm. Your car'll be shaky and hesitant(so I've read, don't quote me). It's best to do it right the first time
