DIY Supercharger kit?

My brother and I are thinking about piecing our own supercharger kit together by looking at vortech's kit. Which centrifugal supercharger is better, procharger or vortech? Would it be a good idea to add an intercooler for the vortech since only the procharger is intercooled? Or would the procharger be a better supercharger. Also, how hard would it be to make our own bracket for the headunit? If anyone happens to have a bracket installed could you give us the dimensions?

Thanks

1. I would go with procharger. I've only heard good things. I believe their DS1 head is the best.
2. Always intercool!
3. If you are a good metal fab person, making a mounting unit wouldn't be a struggle.
I know a metal fab guy who made his own X-pipe.
Easy and fun.

I heard that the vortech headunits are more efficient than prochargers. Does anyone know if this is true?

I have heard the opposite of this.
I believe procharger is self lubricating as well.

procharger vs vortech

This is where I heard about the procharger robbing more power than the vortech. Although if the procharger is self lubricating, will I need to tap the oil pan?

Alright I'll look into the Procharger. Would you suggest to go with a low mileage used head unit or new head unit? Also how do you tell if it is in good condition?

I've picked up a used eaton with 20,000 and my eaton has 92,000 on my cobra totally stock.
I would go new or get on SVT performance and buy a used one, 99% of mustang guys won't sell you ****ty stuff.

New if u want piece of mind.

Procharger I have never used, make sure it spins with out clanking or any odd sounds

I am planning on running 6psi of boost to start. Will 39# injectors be enough and what size fuel pump would you recommend?

Procharger advertises its oiling system. Doesn't require tapping into the oil pan. Which I like, I'd probably mess the oil pan up and get leaks...

Will 39# injectors work because I can get a pretty good deal on them. Also will I need to upgrade my maf?

39s may work. Pending on the type of boost you wanna run. On 6lbs, if say yes.
And yes upgrade to a MAFia, so it won't peg the MAF.

With 6psi of boost would I be around 230rwhp? And would a 255lph fuel pump supply enough fuel?

Boost a pump should be enough.

I'm going 60lb injectors and a boost a pump on my cobra. You should be good with just a boost a pump

What's ur stock pump push?

---------- Post added at 03:37 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:36 PM ----------

Most people run SCs with out even touching the pump on ur car tho.
I'd say a boost a pump to be safest
