1998 V6 SCT eliminator chip problems

Hey everybody I'm new to mustang evolution so I don't know if I'm doing this stuff right but I need help. I just installed a SCT 4-bank eliminator chip on my 1998 3.8 and I've had problems. I just got it to start and everything is fine accelerating from a stop. But once I try to push on the accelerator when I'm up to speed the engine just revs and the check engine light came on. Anybody have any ideas on what it is? Thanks

Automatic or standard transmission?
You can always take the chip out temporarily to know if it is the chip or the transmission.

It's an automatic and I just tried removing the chip. Even with the chip removed it still happens. It feels like a problem getting into 3rd gear. I'm thinking it's a problem with the wiring to the computer possibly.

Leave the chip out so Autozone can run codes. Take it too them and have them diagnose the problem. Let the computers brain do the work for you. If they give you multiple possibilities for the code write them down and bring it here. Because the check engine light cam on, the computer should store the problem. I don't know if it is true but I got told Autozone can not test the computer with the chip in it.
