Talking my turbo build up

got all the piping ordered.......pics up when i get it in.

supposedly this is the most expensive part, b/c everything else combined (- the tune and labor of course) should be about the same amount.

i do need to build up the rear end first so the plans for the turbo are delayed by a couple weeks. hopefully by next week i can get the rear built up assuming all the parts come in. followed by the turbo and other random accessories, which should be in a couple months unless i get too antsy and do it sooner.

oh ok, got a buddy of mine who is awsome at hand fabricating stuff, between me, him and jay we built all the turbo piping and headers for our race car.

check out some pics of his work, this is a 525 BBC with a 106 mm turbo, all the mounts for the turbo and all piping we hand fabbed in his garage

Re: my turbo build up

sparkplug, im ordering pieces from different places to make a badass kit, tial wastegates, havent decided on a specific turbo but i wanna run the new turbonetics gtk turbo. tma piping which is what im getting for my build-up. he isnt making many decisions as far as the parts go, he is just making the decision whether he wants to spend the money now or wait a while.but you know im not letting him run some crap kit.im willing to bet he will have the cleanest, most quality kit many have ever seen. i told the guy from tma what parts im using and he said he couldnt do better himself.

im pumped to get it on the car, im painting the engine up nice and pretty as well so the kit isnt the only good looking thing under the hood, say hello to the apple...the pumpkins little brother

yeah, ellis is sick with some of the stuff he can make. he is extremly talented with that stuff. give him some time and he'll be up there with madman, you out to see that 25.2 certified car he did. the inspector couldn't believe that was his first cage. his welds and craftsmanship is incredible.

not looking to out-do anybody, just want to have an extremely clean quality kit, i refuse to have some hacked up glued together kit like the ones i see too often, that car is very clean... but i have built combinations in the past that are equally as clean or better.

i also said the cleanest kit most have seen, i take it everybody is familiar with the pictue you posted before you put it up...

J's over on V6 power and has been working on that turbo setup forever !!!!! And does it really matter who got the cleanest setup as long as it looks good and hauls ***

P.S- I give Kyle 3 months before it goes boom

will not go boom...thats what dyno tunes are for.

and you are right, it doesnt matter whos is the cleanest, as long as it is a quality job, looks great, and performs as good as it looks.but i dont mind people always showing how thier friends brothers uncles sisters friends mommas aunts cousins dads sons friends car is better than anything i work on.

In high power kingdom of sixers, J's TT car is fairly well known. Between that one, Gary's single, Neuharth's single, and Justin's TT.... I'd say those round out the top 'well known' turbo sixes.

I'm very interested to see what becomes of this one. Will be nice to see another name creating a 6T setup.

If it is like kyles, the tear down is the time to get it all cleaned up good and then stay on top of it.

I give it a week before he lays into it and leaves 2 pistons in the street. lol

Although, I think a babyseat is a pretty good rev-limiter lol

He has no back seat at the moment...just a rear delete so a car seat isn't possible. However, if he does re-install his rear seat the level of roasting he will receive is going to double if not more.

So away from the argument for a second.

What type of turbo are you gonna go with? What headers? How much boost are you gonna run on your stock block? And what rear end mods!!

Re: my turbo build up

stay on topic

Anyone figure out what to do about that tranny? I'm not a trans guy by any means, so I have no clue what he needs.

His stock engine should handle 400hp all day long as I assume the tune will have him very well setup to prevent any issues from popping up.

Re: my turbo build up

the tranny should hold decently until i pay back the turbo setup......then i'll just put in a built 4r70w

jarrod said there was something he could do with the tune to help the tranny handle the extra power. but supposedly these trannies are good for up to 350-400 rwhp, guess we will find out

Re: my turbo build up

he will have tial wastegate and bov, havent decided on the turbo but im thinking the turbonetics gtk series or a precision, both have good spool time, tma hot and cold piping kit, manual in car boost controller, ford gt fuel pump, havent picked an intercooler yet

the transmission will be tuned for softer shifts for now, but later it will get a stall and a full build by powertrain specialist that will handle 1000hp, the rearend is getting 31 spline hardened axles and carrier with 4:10 gears...
