What is the difference between a pinion and a t-loc?

Re: Pinion

pinion? i thought that referred to rack and pinion..i.e. front of the car.

whereas t-loc is a type of differential for the rear

or is there pinion elsewhere?

Re: Pinion

The non technical explaination is...you have a pinion gear in your rear end that is separate from the t-loc. I'll let someone else do the technical definition.

Re: Pinion

ring and pinion is in the rear-end, the pinon transfers power from the driveshaft to the ring gear that is bolted to the t-lock, they work together, one doesent work without the other.the t-lock just replaces the limited slip junk.
