New Motor?

Hey I am looking into motors for my '95 3.8l manual transmission. I just got a new job, pretty good pay, so I am wondering which motor I should go with. I really want to put a v8 in there, just cause I am tired of looking at the ground everytime I look at the engine, also because I love beating the other guy at the light. I am wanting close to 600 horses, ( yes I know I need to beef up the tranny and rear end) but was wondering for under 10 grand what can I get?

Honestly I'd say ditch the v8 idea cuz it would take a lot more than just beefing up the tranny and rear end.

Rebuild the sucker to a 4.2l forged internals and polished an ported heads, then do an eaton swap.
Swap in an 8.8 rear end and then do a little clutch/flywheel work.

4.2l can be built in under 5k.
I believe the full eaton swap is 3k
And u can get a SRA 8.8 pretty cheap these days.

This is assuming u do ur own work

Sell your car for like 3500 ... now you have 13,500 and go buy a used cobra around 10k and drop the other 3500 into the car doing gears and some bolt ons... wont be 600hp but you should pull on other cars

If you don't know what motor to put in already then a v6 to v8 swap probably is going to be way to much work for you to take on .. your honestly better off just selling your car and buying a GT ... you can get them for very cheap. 2500-3500 .. and sink the resta your money into it and it will be a beast. sell your car!... or keep the v6 dump a pile of money into it and still not have the gains you want.. I donno man. its what I did...
although my V6 was sexier then my V8 .. I have a better platform to build off now

I swear no one on this board has ever heard of hotrodding... Sell it and buy a V8 is the mantra around here and on most mustang forums.
You can put whatever you want into it, just be prepared for a lot of work and money to go into it. I like the idea of the lincoln motor. Or a motor based on a truck block.

ok fine here is what you will need
Complete engine - pan to throttle body
throttle cable
Air intake
MAF is the same and can be reused
Engine accessories w all brackets, lines, wiring, hoses (accessories themselves should be the same for 3.8 & 5.0)
Motor mounts
Complete exhaust
Radiator & hoses
Fan
Overflow should be the same
EEC with harness
All engine and trans wiring harnesses
Dash harness
Speedo cluster
CCRM

Transmission, driveshaft, and starter from the 3.8 can be reused
trans will need 5.0 flexplate from 87-95
T-5 trans will need 5.0 flywheel and clutch from 87-95
T-5 will need to swap to a 94 95 5.0 bellhousing. The 3.8 and 5.0 bells have the starter in different positions to accomodate the different diameter fly wheels. Fox bellhousing will not work because the 94+ T-5's input shaft is longer than fox.

or you could just sell it and buy a GT and save your self a tun of work

Hey man, sorry to tell you sir but I think everyone is right. Please do not try to build your v6, I would really recommend starting with a better platform. Swapping in a v8 to your car would be pretty cool and a great accomplishment for yourself. But the amount of money you would spend swapping everything over you could just sell it and take that money buy a gt and then mod that to your liking and for sure it will be faster then if you swapped out your v6 because you would have extra money to spend on mods for the gt. I would also like to add to this post that it is your car at the end of the day and you can do what ever you please with it. So if you wanna swap in that v8 and make this car your project car go for it. It's a mustang at the end of the day no matter what so it's going to be badass!!! Good luck!
