I have a 2000 v6 mustang automatic and was wondering what mods should I add? I only have a dual exhaust right now

I wish I could find an 8.8 near me, I've got two j.y. connections but man, just waiting.

Windstar swap is good...gathering parts myself as we speak
A tuner is great especially for an auto matic car...
I bought a 4.2 COMPLETE with rod knock for $100 from my buddy
cam, I believe, and gears would be most notable

$900 maybe if its rebuildt with 4.10s or 4.56 gears. Or maybe if its the cobra IRS rear end. Otherwise $200-300 is the usual price for a used 8.8.

As stated, an 8.8 swap and gears are a good idea. You already have dual exhaust, so you have that going for you. You can also get a C.A.I. and depending on where you live, you could consider new headers. Just be sure to get a tune to get the best bang for your buck, but get it before the gears!

Is 4:10 with a 7.5 a bad idea?

You will definitely spin a lot unless you get a traction lock. It's not a bad idea but it isn't as good as an 8.8 with gears.

Don't put sticky tires on the 7.5 and it should be OK.

Hey,

Glad to hear you have some interest in adding some mods to you V6, they certainly have some potential.

Like nearly every person that posted on this thread, gears, or an 8.8 rear swap is certainly a great place to go next. If you want to do any street or drag racing they are usually the first place people turn to get the most out of their car.

Other than drivetrain mods, you could certainly do several power mods. A popular first mod is always an intake, it will certainly pick you up some horsepower and add some throttle response to your car, over the factory intake. Other than an intake, a tuner will give you quite a bit more power, and make the trans shift quickly and crisply. This is also a popular and effective mod, especially when combined with an intake.

Either way it sounds like you have quite a bit to think about. When you do you next mod, keep in mind that we offer a 6% discount to our forum members. Also, if a competitor advertises a product you're interested in cheaper than us, we will match their price.

If you have any questions feel free to ask myself or contact our customer service team at the number listed below my signature. Good luck and keep us posted!

-Dan
