Rusty Clutch Cable?

I'm not sure if this is the problem, but it's what I have read online. 120k miles on original clutch. It feels like there is a LOT of friction going on. For example, when you depress the clutch pedal, it seems sort of stuck if you don't apply much pressure. Then, as you add pressure, eventually it breaks free and jumps an inch or so and stops. It feels like something hasn't been lubricated that needs lubricated. It is a little difficult to control the pedal precisely because of all of the friction. You can also hear it make a lot of squeaky sort of noise as you use it. I'm not saying that a rusty clutch cable is the problem but what is the first step to fixing this issue?

Thanks guys. You're awesome!

get a new cable, and while your at it get the steeda quadrant and adjustable firewall piece, you might as well change the clutch fork while your at it.
