My 2000 V6 progress

Hey guys, I plan on using this thread to post updates on my mustang, ask questions, and get some advice.

First, I'll start with a pic of the day I bought the car.

Came with the bodykit attached, off-road x-pipes, and the Mach stereo system.

Since then, we've had a few bad storms and a medium-sized tree actually fell onto the front passenger bumper. Luckily, I know a guy that does body work, and he's helping me get it fixed.

As you can see, there is a large dent. Also, I plasti-dipped the rims black for my first project with plasti-dip.

Next, I used more plasti-dip (anything black in any of these pictures is probably plasti-dip.) and made a hood stripe, but ran out before I could finish it across the body. I wanted something one of a kind, not just the basic two stripes or the hood scoop thick stripe. So I decided on a fat, rounded one instead.

A few days later, I grabbed another can and finished off the stripe. You have probably already noticed the nasty, cloudy headlights by now, and after trying multiple compounds to remove the hazing as, I finally gave up, and replaced every exterior light.

These are the headlights immediately after install.

The tail lights and a new LED 3rd brake light.

These all came in from eBay as a set for $130, which was a damn good deal, I believe.

(NOTE: having an issue with the reverse lights fuse blowing as soon as the car starts. My guess is a short, not sure how to fix that myself.)

Nice and lit up.

After all of these cosmetic upgrades, I felt I needed to at least show the performance side a little love. Purchased an RTUNES cold air intake off eBay for about $70, easy and quick install, and the car sounds meaner than ever. Not a big change, but enough to make me feel like I'm doing a good job for a beginner with no experience at all.

I'm all about one-of-a-kind. I want my mustang to be one that no one else has. That, of course, isn't always easy. So I grabbed some hub covers to get rid of the ugly plastic-ish silver. They came in smaller than expected (Chinese manufacturing for ya, I guess) so I took a $0.97 bottle of lipstick red acrylic paint and added a nice touch to it. The result is this, and I'm proud of them. No chipping in the paint or anything thus far.

The end result: (so far)

Yes, I like transformers. And yes, I wish this baby could jump up and blow stuff up. Anyway, I'll give you guys a list of future projects on it. Let me know what you think, and give me a little advice! If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

1. TB spacer
2. New, louder mufflers. (Advice?)
3. Finish the fender
4. Plasti-dip the rear decklid and rear valance, as well as hash marks and rocker stripes. There's just so much red on that car, I want to balance it with some black.
5. Paint the interior pieces that are that ugly light grey color into black. Or find black interior pieces at the local scrapyard.

Anyway, let me know what you guys think!

I also would like to lower it, but a bit nervous about it rubbing.

Nice body kit bud. Have the same on my 02 gt.

I plan on lowering my car, and I have heard with a 1.5 inch drop, you will not see any rubbing issues. Overall I think the car is looking pretty good.

Okay, I was wondering because they have 2" drop kits online and there's just no way.

And yeah, I really like the kit on it. It's simple, but mean as hell.

I think even with a 2 inch drop, you'll be fine if you have stock sized wheels. I didn't see if you listed you had aftermarket or not. But i'm curious as to if you purchased the car with the body kit like that or had it installed. The reason I ask is, the front lip of your car is slightly different from mine. And it looks pretty sweet. Click image for larger version

I nearly forgot to mention that. Well, a certain family member borrowed my baby for a quick trip to the gas station and hit a dog. Breaking that little bar in the middle. I was too pissed to fix it, and ended up just sawing it down flat. It still looks pretty good. Another thing I have to do is put the side skirts back on. I swear, that car has been to war.

And my wheels are Eagle Alloys, they actually look the exact same as yours, except mine weren't as clean. Hence the plasti-dip.

The hub on mine are a bit different however. But yeah, they are 18s I'm pretty sure (like I said in my op, I'm an idiot when it comes to cars in all honesty)

I concur, hence the red/black theme

Does someone make fog lights that could insert into the outermost or second-to-outermost outlets in the front lip? I'm really wanting some because it's about to be wet season out here. They don't have to be smoked like my headlights, I can just apply a film to them myself. But smoked would just make it one step easier.

Very nice stang, the transformers accents are pretty sweet. All you need is Megan Fox in the passenger seat and you're set.

One of those rear blackout pieces (for between rear headlights) would look great on yours I think.

I'm a big Decepticon nut. Haha. They transform cooler, are brutal, and just overall badass.
I've already got me a Megan Fox in my passenger seat. Hahahaha!

Yeah, I plan on blacking out that rear decklid. The valance too. Gotta fix some of the dip that is peeling up on one tire too, so that'll all take about a can, maybe. I'm also planning some hash marks and rocker stripes, just to throw off the amount of red even more. It drives me nuts.

Those blackout panels for the rear decklid are sweet....but my car is already black. 1.5" drop would be perfect.

Haha very nice, lucky you! And where did you get that body kit? Don't think I've ever seen one like that before

It came with the car. Haha.
I did a little modifying to it, but not much.

I think my next project will be a complete interior overhaul. The light grey just doesn't look good. Saw the thread about a guy painting his interior, and learned what I needed from that. Been planning this out for a while, I guess it's just finally time. Will update soon. Scrapyard this weekend, those AC vents are so easily breakable -.-

Quick update, touched up the scratches and scrapes on the front lip of the body kit, and the weird grey hole thing on the trunk with some paint. Can't even tell they are there now.

Tough *** cars, though. That's one thing I can say. To have a pretty good sized tree fall on mine and it only take a fender bump, that's pretty badass.

The only question I really have is how to take out certain pieces of the interior, or if there is one place that will explain how to take out each individual part so I don't mess anything up. I'm actually making a how-to guide in the appearance forum. Mostly due to my knowledge of anything paint-related. I actually did a few little things today, check it:
