Won't shift at 40mph

So, a few months ago I started noticing that if I am at exactly 40mph my car sounds like it is trying to shift up but it won't until I hit 41-42mph and then it shifts not hard, but more noticeably than it does into other gears. Any idea
What could be the problem?

New transmission, buddy. I'm sure one of these guys could probably pinpoint exactly what it is, but if you're like me and don't have a lot of mechanical experience, you'll definitely want to pay someone to fix/replace it.

It's fine everywhere else. I don't think dropping thousands on a transmission would be smart

If it's fine everywhere else then you won't have any worries with a newer transmission :p

I bought a shift kit from AM that some people have said fixed any issues they were having with their trans. I'm going to install that first and see how things go before buying a new tran.

Sounds stock to me, my daily 01 won't shift till 41-42mph, it's just the shift schedule. My other car was the same way when I first got it with only 74K miles on it.

Maybe it's because it is just now getting up to 90k miles on it. I don't think I noticed it when I had it for the first couple of years.

Does it have that vibration until it shifts?

A bit. Not like a crazy amount like it is about to fall apart. I guess the best explanation is that it's like a throbbing vibration like it's trying to change but decides not to or can't.

So, an update. Today I went and got the sea foam transmission additive and put some in to see how it would help. I think, not positive, that it now doesn't have trouble at 40mph.

Haha it isn't fixed but it is noticeably less rough shifting to the next gear at 41-42.
