Changed my mind about scing my car..

Hey all, After a lot fo thinking and the like, I decided against scing my car. I am thinking I want to keep the car NA and go with a h/c/i package. I was wondering how much is the average price to get heads, and upper and lower intakes ported and polished? What about install? I am assumign thats an expensive piece of work....any ideas so i know what to save up?

Also, Aside from the H/C/i, what other parts are needed for the install? Any other work you recomend being done? Beeft up the rest of the internals? Or is this not needed and is it safe to keep everything stock except for the H/C/I package?

I am probably going to troll the forums and buy the parts as they show up...is this a bad idea? Will this give me parts that won't flow or work as well together? Or would you reccomend buying everything as a set?

Any idea of power output when all done?

the price varies depending on which you go with~ I would probably see around 2k for everything needed and then assume labor will be 1-2k depending~ I personally would do a 4.2 stroker at the same time which will be another 2-3k lol... it adds up quick

Depending on your power goals, slapping a s/c on the car may be cheaper in the long run.

I would like to keep the car NA if possible. If I did ported and polished heads and intakes and then a new cam, wouldn't that be a "safer" set up for a daily driver?

Not really. A sc with a good tune is just as safe.

Re: Changed my mind about scing my car..

With all the money you'll spend on H/C/I and labor cost you can pick up a S/C or turbo Kit (If you shop around) and as stated as long as you get a safe tune your bottom end will be fine.
You maybe disappointed in the HP gains on a 3.8 IMO you may see 220 to 230 RWHP Now a 4.2 with super six stage 2+ N/A has seen 260 RWHP

Re: Changed my mind about scing my car..

thanks for the info. I will take a look at pricing and the like and go from there. Good point on the sc vs h/c/i price. Anyway, engine has about 84k on it, that too much to slap a scer on it? Also, with a SC, would I have to upgrade my internals at all?
