Ik! I can't wait to put it on but I need to help my brother with his H/C/I swap on his 1998 GT. I still need to get a few things anyways.

This search for a rear end is killing me. I'm about to drop 450 on a stock one with 115k miles on it... I feel like maybe it's my area in NW Arkansas that there just aren't many around. Searching Craigslist and every salvage yard within 100 miles only rewarded me with this one for 450 and the rest were 600+. Should I drop the 450 or keep waiting for a better deal?

Wait for a better deal. There are two near me for $450 and $500. I'm going to wait until I find one under $300.

You can buy an entire new rear with 3.55 or 3.73 gears with 31 spline axels for $999 from Speed Concepts. The 4.10 is $1,099. Bolt it in and go. Your going to need a tuner to re do the speedo. Try Diablosport.

Haha yeah.. I just don't think there are many around here. I don't see many GTs from 1999-2004 around here. If one pops up in Dallas area I have to add the $100+ gas price.

They are hard to find in my area also. We have a pull apart junk yard that sells them for $80. But I just miss them when they have one. The recycle center wants $550. That is with a $50 discount. I am waiting also.

I am thinking of M112ing it in the future so the 3.27 is the ideal gear. Got a stroker kit I might sell.

I got a guy in Dallas to meet me halfway so I could save some time and money and I am getting the rear end for just 300. Seems like a good deal to me. I'm going to put new gears in the rear end, but on AM I saw that it recommends rebuilding the Tlock when you do gears. What do you guys think? Do I need to/ is it worth the extra 100 bucks+shop cost?

It was hit in the front and 130k miles. I'm replacing gears so mileage won't be as big of a deal.

If you have the money I would do it, but if you don't I would let it go. You will eventually need to do that so either do it know or later.

I'm getting it, I'm just trying to buy gears from American Muscle and I don't know if I need to buy the tlock rebuild kit or not.

Yea I was talking about the rebuild kit. It is a good idea and you will probably need to do it later. While you have the rear end out you should do it but if you don't have the money then it can wait but you will need to take the rear end out again.

Oh okay, thanks man. I might make the investment now. Good news is, I just picked up the rear end and he left the sway bar on there so that's a plus since some I have seen have taken it off and sold it already.

That mileage would scare me so I would defiantly rebuild it! I chose not to because the one I bought had 40k miles on it

Yeah, I think I'm going to go ahead and do it. Might as well drop the money all at once and pay more now rather than a lot more in the long run.

I need some expert opinions! Got everything done today an there is a noise coming from the back of the car. It is a tick at lower speeds and gets to be a hum as I speed up. Is this a bad thing? Or just the new gears need to "break in"

Something is wrong. I'm not an expert that can say what it is, but there shouldn't be noise like that.

It sounds like your describing gear whine, who installed the gears?

Idk much about it other than when the gears aren't set right the gears make a whining sound. I would tell what happened to whom ever installed the gears.

Yea I would let him figure it out. I hope the gears aren't ruined! Did you get to have fun with the 4.10's yet?

Yeah he's gonna take it all apart and make sure it's correct. He test drove it and said it's not hurting the car though so that's good
