Mechanic said it's bearing noise. What's that mean?

Did you replace your bearings when you put the new gears in?

I think you're supposed to replace the bearings when you change gears.

Wheel bearings or the ones in the differential?

In the differential. With low mileage I can't imagine the wheel bearings needing to be replaced. Plus the wheel bearings wouldn't make the whining.

300? That seems high. You can get a complete bearing installation kit from AM for only 100.

And that's the thing I drove it and wasn't crazy impressed. Could bad bearings slow it down?

Did you tune it? If you didn't tune it after the swap I don't think it would be that impressive. Plus your speedometer would be off.

I already have my exhaust ordered. I got the Mac Pro chamber but it's got to be welded in.

The Pro Chamber is the mid pipe. The link is for the pipe that goes in front of the mid pipe. It is a OFF ROAD kit. The kit can be installed without cats. It has no factory cats and comes with shorty cats. You would have to cut, expand, and install the shorty cats.

It's hard to find a shop to remove the cats because it is against federal law. Most shops will not work on a car with no cats because they can get fined for your car being in there shop. Even if they did not remove the cats. I am not saying no one on this form does not know a shop that will break the rules. Basically, I am saying if you bought this and installed the shorty cats the mechanic would install the Mac Pro chamber.

I have short cats and had no cats. The difference is the sound. There is a big performance gain from removing the factory cats. If you are interested, I can explain how in depth.
