Got a budget in mind? How much sound do you want? Going whole hog - head unit, amps, wiring, speakers, everything?

I've got a mach 460 sound system with 2 12" alpines and an 1800 watt kenwood amplifier in the trunk. Sounds pretty sick and hits hard.

Are you in the low hundreds area or more like a grand? More maybe? I've got about $850 in my stereo, but that's replacing everything. New head unit, 4 kicker 6×9's, a couple Memphis 10" subs in slotted boxes and a 1200 watt amp. I am reusing the mach tweeters for now and I think the system sounds great. I wanted some bass but not overwhelming and I think that's what I've got.

stereos are over rated and subs get annoying fast.... get a really good exhaust system and call it your new stereo

I have a 10 inch orion sub in a bandpass box($80 on craigslist) and a $100 pioneer amp from Walmart( I think its 380w RMS and 920w max?). It adds the bass that I like(a lot of music sounds weird without it) it rattles my license plate though...

What ever system you go with get a capacitor and a good battery I'm running 2farad boss cap and a yellow top optima battery keeps lights from dimming and makes for a more efficient system I'm running 2 12" kenwood 1200 watts with a 2800 boss phantom series amp and running 4 guage wire all around and they sound good I went but mustangs have small *** trunks so I had to make a custom box non ported for a better sound I spent over $900 on it over 2 years but there is nothing like having a system exactly the way you want it

I'd go with a double din. I've got a single din and wish if spent more and got a touch screen with gps. But I also replaced all the stock speakers with JBL speakers, ran my own wires and put 2 12" comp CVRs kickers, with a 1600 watt sony xplode amp. Cost me about $650 in all maybe less. I installed it all myself.

Hits hard as hell and turns heads. It'll be hard to fit your sub box in your trunk with 12s tho but after an hour of sweating and cussing the sub box for all it's worth you'll get it in there lol

Yeah Craigslist is gunna be the cheapest option honestly. Cause people but systems then get bored with them.

I've got a 2000, so my setup will be a bit different than yours, but here's what I've got, bought it all on a small budget:

10" kenwood sub (doesn't sound like much but I swear it flexes my windshield. Probably the deepest and loudest sub I've ever had)

350w kenwood amp

Single din Kenwood header

Mach system

Doesn't seem like much, but I've been the music source for a few field parties and we've been busted multiple times for noise complaints, so I ain't even mad

Best boxes for mustang trunks are either single boxes or a dual sub box that has an angle on the front, I got one and it slides in perfect and I still have rooms to put two backpacks full and a 4 drawr craftsman toolbox In the trunk and still got some space

What type of sound system are you looking for? One for great sound quality, or one for a lot of bass? I am a competitor for sound quality shows (IASCA) and a great forum dedicated to sound systems is diymobileaudio.com

Some good advice:Stick with respectful brands such as pioneer, sony, alpine, cdt audio, focal, morel, heck even precision power (ppi), digital designs, Image dynamics, rockford fosgate,

Brands like hifonics, mb quart (they were bought out and now made in china), powerbass, Boss, Pyle, planet audio, etc are junk

My system:
Pioneer DEH-80PRS Active Head Unit
Illusion Audio Carbon Series Tweeters
H-Audio custom made midbass driver
Dayton Audio subwoofer
Mosconi Gladen 240.2
Mosconi Gladen 120.4

Yo, i'd like to know how you got 2 12's in your trunk with the mach audio system still in there? what subwoofer box did you use?

you can email me at kapone86@yahoo.com if it's easier to communicate than the forums.

Thanks
