4R70W transmission rebuild

Alright here goes! I know almost nothing about the innards of a transmissions but I've been watching tons of informational videos and doing a lot of reading. I've got a 4r70w transmission that everything but the reverse went out in last May. I bought a rebuilt one and put it in myself (saved a pretty penny).

Sitting in my garage for the past year has been my old transmission and I've decided since I have the money to waste, the time, nothing to lose, and that fact that I simply just want to learn a little more about the process, that I'm going to attempt to have some fun and try to rebuild it.

My questions are: What rebuild kit and instruction manual should I get to help me through the process? Also, is there anyway to tell if the rebuild worked without having to actually put it in my car? I don't want to do that because I don't have a car lift which caused the first one to be a pain in the ***. Any help would be great! Also, don't tell me that I'm wasting my time and money. It's just a learning process for me and I have the money to waste if it goes wrong.

Transtar... And I like your plan... A little advice... Make a drawing as you take it apart so you know how it goes back together... That's what I do when I take things apart at work that are new to me, but yeah transtar makes god ****

Not to get off topic, but did you have a lift available to you for the swap?

And there's enough room to completely remove your trans when it's on ramps?
