Mileage

I have a 2000 v6 automatic and I really wanna do some extra stuff like 8.8 rear end, 4:10 gears, CAI and maybe some extras but my car has 176,000 miles on it, should I put some money into performance?

I really wouldn't, but its not my decision. At some point you have to look at the cost to benefit ratio of doing expensive mods like that to a high mileage car. Your best bet would be to save the money and enjoy the car as it is. Maybe save up for a nice 2000's GT or newer.

I bought a 99 with 225000 kms on it. Not sure what it is in miles, I added a CAI from American muscle that was Only $60. Only doing small things and trying to benefit the car and make it last as long as I can. But I wouldn't get to deep into it because then everything you've done will end up worth more then the car. Take care of it and enjoy it though. I'm in the exact same boat tho. Most I'm gonna do is throw some halos on fix the little rusty spots. Just enjoy her will you can!

Do you plan on keeping it for the long hall or throwing it in the gutter and go buy another?

That's a problem that I've always wondered about. My car is pushing past 170,000 miles but looks sharp as a tack. I've replaced all gaskets, water pump, power steering lines/pump, and transmission all within the last 20k miles. I look at this optimistically as these parts will last for another 100k+ but when I think about putting money into mods I just think about another thing going wrong. I do plan on keeping the car though since it's my first car/mustang.

That's where you have to factor the compounding repairs plus mods. I would say if it was a GT then yes, but a v6 of that year just isnt worth it for performance mods.

My '04 V6 has about 114000 miles on it and I'm already thinking when I get a better job, I'm going to probably get rid of this one. I'm HOPING things working out and I can maybe get a 2014 before the end of the year. Prices are great on them right now.

My 01 has 191k miles and daily driven. I am doing a windstar intake this coming weekend and in the next month or so 8.8 (already have it) and 4:10s. You just need to decide if your gonna keep the car or not.

Mileage

The bottom end in my fun car (250rwhp NA) is around 150K and still beat the piss out of it when I get to drive it. Tough little motors, the only thing I worry about in stock cars are the tq converters as they tend to not hold up well past stock HP levels haha. My 00 daily has a shutter to it but will get dealt with later when I have the extra money, for now just keep driving and enjoying the mileage out of it.

My 04 has 117k now and has the same shutter you are talking about, everything else still going strong, and like you said I"ll keep enjoying it, and if I fix the torque converter in the future then definitely I'm not going to sell it.
I'm thinking to buy a brand new one in the near future and I don't want it to be my daily driver, thats why I'm keeping my 04.
