So you want to put it after the cats in the middle and route 2 exhaust pipes from it into dual exhaust?

A single muffler won't flow as good as two separate mufflers. Idk how it will sound but it would almost be pointless to put in dual exhaust just to merge into one muffler, because it would be just as restrictive.

I agree a dual-in dual-out muffler setup would be more restrictive than a true dual setup. For a bolt-on 3.8 v6, you may not see much negative effects though. Depending on the pipe sizing.

Is there a particular exhaust tone or not you're trying to reach OP?

Well I was going to get a muffler that has a x in the center so it would almost be a like a x pipe within a muffler I'm just curious on how it would sound cuz I have seen and heard all exhaust that can be done to a 3.8 and wanted to try something out of the regular

More restrictive exhaust isn't the way to be out of the norm. I would pick your favorite sounding muffler instead of trying to be different. The muffler with the x- pipe in it can you post a link or are you talking about a prochamber?

He's using a dual in dual out muffler as a mid pipe after the cats. I understand exactly what he is saying. It wouldn't be restrictive. But I'm interested in what'd it'd sound like also. It goes headers>cats> dual in dual out muffler>two mufflers> and then tailpipes

It would go headers... Cats 1 pipe coming from each cat going into the dual in muffler then 2 pipes coming out the muffler ... 1 muffler in the center after the cats where a x pipe or h pipe would go... So just 1 muffler

Is the muffler going to be toward the front, middle or rear of the car? Idk how much room you will have or how placement will work but you can try it.

I've thought about it too. I had my divorced duals that low I don't think it'll be a problem. It did scrape but I got it fixed. But that would just have to scrape lol
