Just Sharing

Some of you may recall a post I made recently raving about getting my car detailed and how my wife and I are trying to get the car back to where I'll really enjoy it for at least another year. Being that I work for a school system, I'm now on spring break for a week. This week's plans are to tint the 3rd brake light and the rear side reflectors. I also have an appointment to finally get the windows tinted. I say finally because i've only been trying to get around to it for about 3 years or so. If I have time (I have a lot of things scheduled to do), i may try to make one of the trunk lid covers. I also need to boom mat the trunk.

Ohh... And I'm taking her Altima, which she got this past August, to get tinted too.

Sure will. I need to get new rear tires too since mine are balding. Wife is going to order those for me, otherwise I was thinking of plasti dipping if I had the time.

It's 35% all the way around (except for windshield obviously). Legal tint in VA is 50 (front) and 35 (back) unless you have a medical exception. I had 35 on the 2nd gen Eclipse I had and never got bothered. Having the one shade consistent just looks better I think. My best friend has the 50% and honestly looking at his, there just wouldn't be a point in tinting it. I know in some states like Nevada, you can go deep limo-style tint. Here that's just asking to get pulled right over.

Damn! It's 15 here in Texas and I think 5 for the back.

If I lived in a spot like that, I'd go that dark. I doubt if the wife would go that dark, though. The window tinting was for our upcoming anniversary. She's really appreciative.

We can't tint the windshield unless you have a real special medical exception- and you have to have that paperwork with you at all times. Needless to say, you don't see anyone with tinted windshields.

I'm talking about my front windows in general. Any sort of tint is illegal and cops looooove it give tickets because of it

Mustang is now tinted with 35%. Too bad it's raining or I'd work on the 3rd brake light, the side reflectors, and get started in the trunk. I have to get started on root canals tomorrow, so I'm hoping the rest of the week doesn't turn out to be a throwaway.

WhileI can understand the police's point of view (no pun) on requiring to see into a vehicle, there appears to be no law on installing side or rear window valances.

I guess as long as they can see the driver...

I did some reading today and it seems tx laws are now at 25% front sides, and any percentage on the back/back doors. It sucks, I personally believe that if we can't have limo tint then cops shouldn't have it either. I find it suspicious they can hide themselves but we can't...

Police up here in VA aren't limo tinted. They seem to be around 35% all the way around too (which technically is still a secondary offense). As far as laws against window valances, etc... maybe there should be something outlawing them unless they're on classic fastbacks. Otherwise, just NO.

Cops around here got like 5% on and you can't see anything. We have seen countless times that they can't be trusted just like a normal person.. I think it should be law for everyone not just civilians. I mean what does tinted window do for them.. Make it where you can't see them examining you? Who cares because if you see the cop car in the first place then it will make you adjust your actions.

I agree with you. I've read countless articles of fake cops pulling people over and stealing their ish or doing other unmentionable things to them.

Tint on 3rd brake light and side markers is now done. I feel like it's been a pretty productive day. The only thing left on my current list is installing LEDs in the trunk to brighten things up.
