Ya it's the best way i think. my buddy's v6 he has them above the bumper so you can't see the tips, but kinda looks strange with no tips IMO.

The owner before me put the single exhaust under the bumper but north carolina will not allow me to do that so dual exhaust is only option to make it look nice

I turned down my old v6's exhaust. It was pretty loud for a v6. Nothing coming out the back looked clean IMO Click image for larger version

Technically it's not legal in most places. The exhaust is suppose to exit the vehicle wether it's out the back or out the side it just has to exit the vehicle

I got the car from florida with the exhaust tucked under the bumper then we took it to a mineke to get a flowmaster 40 on it and they said it wouldnt pass inspection

That is really weird. I don't believe we have that issue here but then again we don't have emissions tests either.

I was going to suggest dumping the exhaust somewhere under the car (either before the rear axle or after), but that sounds like a no go.

I'd either get a catback system or have a trustworthy exhaust shop fab some 2.25 piping (divorced duals) from your cats back to your preference of mufflers, and then to some tips under the bumper.

You could make your bumper gt like. I have seen people cut them out with a dermal. Get a measuring tape, paper, and scissors. Measure every distance so you make it perfect. Make a template with scissors and paper. Make a perfect out line with erasable markers. Put tape around where you are cutting so the paint does not chip. Finally measure twice, cut once.
