Weird idle

So my car will drop down to 500 rpm sometimes for a couple of seconds. I took the IAC valve off and cleaned it. Also cleaned the throttle body. I put a cold air intake on and I've been changing the vacuum lines out. There are no leaks. Yesterday my check engine light came on. When I was driving home the idle would hang up around 1400 rpm when I was braking. I have a 2003 v6 . Please help

whats the check engine light for? go to advanced auto or somewhere like that and have it checked out unless you have a tuner

I am not sure why its on. I assumed because of the idling issue. I will try to get my codes ran tomorrow

Get a hold of a CEL reader as soon as you can. Then we'll be able to more easily address the issue, depending on the code.

Have you changed anything else on the car recently? Such as the exhaust or O2 sensors? How long as this symptom been occurring exactly?

Provide us as much info as you can, so we can help you out!

Just got it scanned at auto zone and its something with the egr. All the codes pointed to something being faulty in it. I replaced the egr sensor with a cheap one. Could that be the product

I took it to the shop. They said the red hose I used to replace my vacuum lines was incorrect. They fixed it and my check engine light was off now back on. I put a cheap egr sensor on my car awhile ago. Could this be causing the check engine light?

I've been having a similar issue, almost every time I slow to a stop it'll idle around 500 and shake like it wants to die. My light went on and I need a new O2 sensor and it's also saying the intake manifold is stuck open. Before that I cleaned out my idle air control and that little plastic connector on the vacuum lines broke so I put in a new one. This has been going on for a while now the light just didn't go on until recently so maybe it's just an O2 sensor?

I figured out that the aftermarket egr sensors will make the check engine light come on. I haven't replaced it yet but I need to put a motorcraft one on

Check all of your vacuum lines and see if any are dry rotted or in need of replacement
