Gas Mileage Getting Worse

I have a 2002 V6 and my gas mileage has gone down the drain. I literally only get 200 miles for a full tank of gas no matter what kind of gas I put in it and I don't drive ridiculously crazy. I don't know what to do! I fill up every 3-4 days and I can't do it anymore. What do you guys think it could be?

Have you done a general tune up yet? Like an oil change air filter change spark plugs and wires?

As IW said start with basic maintenance things. A bad fuel filter could be the culprit, when's the last time that was changed?

Also your exhaust system can hinder mpgs. A bad Mass Air Flow (MAF) unit or O2 censor will fault out and relay back to your ECU which may adjust your A/F ratio and cause your car to run rich which will in turn consume more gas.

Maybe it's the car in general. I changed the oil 2 weeks ago and switched fuel filter about a month or so ago. I also changed plugs, wires, air filter, coolant last year and I get maybe 18-20 mpg with the majority highway. I get around 240 miles before I trigger the gas light but when I pump I fill up around 13 gallons not 15.5 but I'm just too scared to go until I run out of gas

Gas Mileage Getting Worse

I get 200-250 miles on a full tank too! My car has also felt sluggish lately. Replaced spark plugs and wires around 1000 miles ago and changed my oil and filter less than 100 miles ago. I plan on changing my gas filter to see of that helps. Also, how would I know if I needed a new MAF sensor?

This is a no brainer

Summer Gas is CRAP Certain times of the year when the weather changes the gas company's change the additives they put in the gas we use. This is everywhere not just California.

I get around 300 kms to a tank.. and that's mostly highway kms , put a new fuel filter and fuel pump with a intake and straight piped dual exhaust..
