Well I have a 99 35th anniv. The emissions label under the hood says "use 5w-30". But yeah it runs fine. If you were to put 5w-30 in your car, I'm sure it would run fine too.

The best weight is this:::

The one "FORD" recommends is the best."""ALWAYS""
The important thing is to use a good quality motor oil weather you use semi-synthetic or full synthetic you want to use a brand with this symbol on the bottle.

I'm pretty sure Castrol GTX does have the "API" symbel

If you do use it then change the oil more often, Every 3,000 miles. GTX is not semi or full synthetic.
Ronnie

PS:
I just looked up the GTX and it is Certified and does have the symbol on the bottle.
Your good to do.
