Will a sequential tail light kit from a newer model car fit mine?

My friend offered to give me his plug and play sequential tail light kit from his 2007 mustang (made for 05-09 I think) to use in my 01 mustang. Would it fit even though it is for a newer year? It's free so I don't mind doing a few things to make it fit if needed... Thanks in advance!

Eeeeeh that's tricky. It's worth a shot, if you don't mind a half an hour project to see if it fits. If it doesn't, I wouldn't recommend snipping any wires. That's just bad news bears, man.
