Has anyone tried this CAI?

Had anyone had any experience with the SR Performance Cold Air Intake (99-04 V6) from American Muscle?

Not personally but I have heard that they aren't very good. I'm probably wrong but after reading numerous posts and reviews I would point more toward either an actual steeda intake or bbk. Than again preference and fact trial is yours to decide

I have it, along with a tuner that actually utilizes it really helps the car. Im sure the steeda or bbk intake does a bit better lol but that doesnt justify 200+ more dollars. Air intakes hardly do anything at all to begin with lol, theyre mostly for looks but do yield some hp. The tune is EVERYTHING tho.

Haha well I agree with you about the price of the units. But anything automotive is supposed to be priced a bit up there. Performance no matter how stupid lol the unit justifies the price by name and history. But speaking of tuner, I don't think in this thread was mentioned which year we're running since 94, 95 were different then the 96+
Edit: just re checked whoops lol

You'll love the SR Performance Intake. It's designed to be good quality and a great fit, for the price point. I don't think you'll have any issues at all! There is a lot of really happy customers running this intake.

All CAI's will make within a few horsepower of each other!

So installed it last night and I can definitely feel and hear a difference even through I didn't not purchase the tuner. I would definitely recommend it if your on a budget.

Yeah I've got the black SR intake (AM was out of the chrome so they gave me a free upgrade ) it works just as good as any other intake. Spending 200 more dollars for maybe 1 more HP isn't worth it IMO. It opens up your stang and gives it a small whistle every once in a while. By you get the most out of it with a time honestly.

They both do the same thing.
these arn't high end magical tubes that add power.
It's a hollow tube, as long as it's sealed, clamped and sucks cold air in. it's fine.

Only difference is the materials they're made out of. I don't think the material makes a big difference either.

I do have a metal BBK though, that came off of an 01 GT my cousin had, and wrecked...
Just needed to seal an extra hole on it.

I had purchased the SR Perf. from AM back in 2010, it worked for me but after awhile I just got tired of it. You can and will notice a slight difference.

I have it n it works great with a tune! Honestly all CAI r the same unless the tubing is bigger for more air but that dnt make a HUGE difference unless u get a bigger MAF but that needs a tune too... im happy with mine but I got mine like 2 years ago so I have the black powder coated one...
