7.5 rear end rebuild?

So I've gone through a lot of the older threads but I can't find what I need so would anyone be able give some info on what's needed to rebuild a 7.5 rear or share a link to a thread? Thanks

Had it replaced 4 years ago and I was dumb and didn't change the oil in it so it dried up and fried my gears and well now I know to change it every so often

Gear oil doesn't just dry up, you had a leak. People have gone over 10 years without ever touching it and have no problems.

You can probably find a used 8.8 cheaper than the 7.5 rebuild.

Okay thanks, I've been thinking about an 8.8 swap but will I be able to use the same axles?

Your current ones are 28 spline and the new ones would have to be 31 spline

Lol yes 99-04 7.5 and 8.8 (from a gt) are all 28 spline same axles. Only the machs have 31 spline, cobras have irs so obviously no.

I'd offer him 300-350 cash and see If he bites. I don't think I'd pay much more than that for one. Keep in mind that unit could be trashed and you'd have to rebuild it..added cost there.

Yeah I'll have to look around some more, the guy is stiff on his price and v6 or v8 rear ends are hard to find around here
