changing rear-end

going to replace my stock 7.5 with a 8.8 and add a 7.3 racing gear. I found a GT rear end. 10.5 inch rear brake 62.5 inches hub to hub with top and bottom braces. it is a 3.27 ratio.
My car is a 99 3.8L custom dual exhaust with flow masters.

haven't bought it yet;
anyone ever done this? what surprises am I in for.

i recently replaced my rear everything gears, bearings, axles, posi and it seems that your only issue should be the driveshaft. You may need to get an adaption to make it fit on the tranny and the larger 31 sp for the 8.8, instead of the 28 sp for the 7.5

It will be straight swap as long as it's a mustang 8.8 not a truck one and the 94-98 are a inch narrower then a 99-04 rear but they are also interchangeable

I put the 3.7.3 gear with a LSD positive traction in the original 7.5rear end. my ABS light wont go out. the speed ometer is off by ten miles an hour and it burns more gas. I got a remarkable amount of torque. But was it worth 1000.00 I quess so.... I need to have the computer chip calibrated to get the speedometer right? other than buy a real V-8 mustang. what suggestions do you have. I have a V-6 has anyone done the mods. they offer at American muscle, where they have for 400.00 a chip mod with three different programs they write based on my particular car and mods.?
