Whiney engine and power steering...

Hey guys I have a 2000 and the engine when idled sounds whiney, just annoys the crap out of me like I just have to just the shut the car off around people because its embarassing. Any ideas????

Also power steerong whine is horribly loud. Power steering fluid is good. Power steering hose is brand new, and when I bought car he said he changed the power steering pump twice and It didnt fix the problem. Any ideas on that?

Rack and pinion might have a leak.

The whiney engine could be a pulley going out most likely the idler pulley and the power steering whine is likely because it needs a flush to flush the whole system and not just the pump and like the guy above me says could be the rack and pinion.

Honestly every single v6 in our years does this. Mine has always done it and I'm not gunna spend 500 to fix it since that's not guaranteed to make it stop even once I've paid to install all new stuff and flush it.

Yeah the noise sucks but it's a problem we may have to live with. If someone figured out the exact thing that causes it I probably wouldn't spend much time and money on it. Instead just sped it on HP mods

Not just a problem with mustangs, fords are notorious for their loud/whiny power steering. Just gotta learn to live with it.
