Question for the windstar guys...

Question for the windstar guys...

How did yall make yalls CAI? Whats the best way to do it? Or what r some other ways to make it?

And did yall have to use spacers from the block to intake? Are thEy needed?

Would like to know so I can have everything ready to go when I finally install ot so it can be a quick install.

TIA

I have a question too... What do you do with the egr? I'm in Canada and need to pass e-test I have an idea on making it functional but eliminated at the same time but don't know about the relocation of it with the Windstar intake do I need to fab up a mounting bracket for it?

No that is not true you can get the egr from the Windstar itself well the egr mount because it is a low profile and you can use 3" PVC pipe with a 90° rubber pipe and a 45° that goes to the air filter but you'll have to get a 90mm lightning MAF just go to VAPauto.com they have two different install guides and a list of things needed also they do have a spacer that made out of g10 plastic but you can make one out of 2 pieces of1/8 inch steel its really not hard I did mine in a day

They did at one point mine is an 00 and some parts are interchangeable I got like 3 things from them (TB spacer, coil pack mount and IAC relocation bracket) but I had to fab the throttle cable and cruse control and yeah Steve from cap is not making any more things for the kit and seems to no longer be replying to emails. There are multiple threads that give really good info all will be different but take what you believe will help you but one thing I'll say be prepared for a lot of f bombs when you lose grip and scrape a knuckle.

Yeah I was cursing my *** off but hell its worth it when you're done 10 HP and 7 TQ but if you have a good tune you can get more HP and TQ and if you make the CAI nice then you can gain a little more. Two things I really recommend if VAP still has them the TB spacer and you will thank god for it because without it you'll need to get a cowl hood or cut the hood and get a gt hoodscoop, second would be the IAC relocation bracket also the egr mount you can get off if the 96-98 Windstar for $7-11 bucks pick and pull junkyard. Also something no one ever tells you the the wires for the IAC you'll have to get 14 gauge the extend the wires. Hope I gave you a good amount of info

That's sweet I've been wanting to get a cowl good what size is yours? And yeah for the throttle cable I made a mount like this the only thing I had to do was make another part for it because I made it a little too long.

But that's the thing I'm putting the AIC back on top to where you have your throttle bracket for the cables I'm also going to try and reuse my BBK 65 mil bottle body

Well if you know anyone with a computer plasma cutter you can make a bracket like mine and just have them cut the holes for the IAC, buy an IAC gasket and sketch out how you want it made but leave the two holes and have the screw holes too lol and not sure if this will help either but this is how I mounted my coil pack on the Windstar

On which one the angled spacer or a mustang spacer and the liner doesn't have to come off but if you want more room its not a bad idea

I tryed to line up my bbk 65 mm tb to the windstar n the windstar was a bit bigger n had a gap on top need a spacer to cover the gap n lighn up the holes for the tb. N also r spacers needed from the block to the windstar so u dont have to bent the fuel railsm

Yeah if you don't want to bend the fuel rail yes and that's kinda strange are you using a gasket from the TB to the spacer and from the intake to the spacer I know stock tb works fine
