2004 V6 3.8L - Cyl. 1 misfire code

I know a bit about cars, but still learning to fix my own. I have a 2004 V6 3.8L Mustang. I was driving the other day and the Service Engine Soon light came on. I checked the code and it said that I had a "Cylinder 1 misfire". I changed the plugs and wires the next day. It ran great for a while but now the code light is back on, flashes at times, and the power drops off. The A/C also started blowing warmer air until the flashing stopped. Any thoughts??

Fail safe mode/limp home mode is your EEC trying to protect itself, the engine, and transmission from further damage when it detects something that could cause catastrophic failure.
In your case reducing power will preserve your engine, if it didnt and you floored it while missing, you could have compression ignition (diesel effect) firing at the wrong time, causing burnt valves, blown gaskets, etc.
