Faint rapid ticking

That seems to be coming from the top of the engine. It sounds like there's something funny going on inside the engine.
I don't think its an exhaust leak. While I do have one on the right side, I listened to the engine on the left side of the car after the exhaust tick left. It sounds different than an exhaust leak. This car went through an overheat situation during the summer.

Does anyone else's v6 make this noise? Ill upload vid if anyone wants to hear it

Let me go ahead and hear a recording, something u can to to locate the sound is to use a mechanics stethoscope or a long metallic object, even a long screw driver would work. Put it to your ear and touch the other end to different parts of the engine until you hear it plainly. Rev the engine and see if the sound increases proportionately, stays the same, or doubles in ticks per minute.

Faint rapid ticking

Yea I'd like to hear one as well. I too recently heard some ticking sound, and my girlfriend can hear it too. Although I can hear it through the shifter boot area(since the boot is gone I can hear below the car at times).
However I don't know about mine being an overheat. It could be since the water temp would go wild at times all up and down.

Maybe a bad lash adjuster. If it sounds like under valve cover. Sometimes Mustang get a ticking over near the timing chain. I believe the timing chain tensioner ticks too. It'll tick a little if there's a leak in the exhaust manifold. Then when it heats up it gets less. Even A blown spark plug will tick I was told. Sometimes Mustang throw a plug. You can add Seafoam to one of the vacumm lines and it will smoke. The white smoke will come out of a leak. Here's a video for you:
