Lifter tick!

Alright so I've got 2 problems, lifter tick and rear main seal leak. The rear main seal came first and ticking came a couple months after. I'm getting the rear main seal replaced in the next couple weeks. With the lifter tick I find when I put in oil treatment and top it off (since I'm always leaking oil), it tends not to tick for awhile. Will the rear main seal replacement fix the ticking because the oil staying full?

If it goes away when you fill it up then yes I would believe it would stay away, but until you replace it keep a closer eye on your oil level and don't let it get low so they would tick more. You also need to consider why the rear main seal blew out, a common problem is a poorly functioning pcv system which causes excessive pressure and blows it out. They are cheap to replace (pcv valve).

How do you know the rear seals bad. I gotta go 97 V6 standard stang and after a while of driving I smell a mixture of burnt oil and brake pads. I looked under the car inside the clutch peek panel and it looks like there's oil in there, Idk if it's front the engine or trans?

Turns out I was wrong. Well not me, the shop I previously took it to. When I took it to the shop to have the rear main replaced they cleaned it up and said no way it's a rear main, they said it was valve cover. They told me the best way to identify rear main leaks is to clean up the entire area and see if oil drips form at the bell housing. They said they did this and the oil was coming from higher but appeared to me as rear main because it collected at my car's lowest point.
