Rough idle

When I start my car when it's cold and warm, I experience a rough idle. It'll dip down to about 400 like it's gonna die then go back up to normal and repeat. It also keeps doing this when I put it in gear but goes away after a few seconds. Existing issues: Lifter tick and rear main leak.

I have the same problem with my mustang. I switched out the fuel filter, and fuel pump and I'm still having that problem

I switch out the fuel filter and it worked like magic. Have you checked your idle air control? I had the same problem a couple years ago and the iac was the culprit.

On another good note... after changing the fuel filter, I filled up with 91 octane gas and the ticking is gone. Feeling good about my car today. Rear main seal gets fixed next Friday and hopefully this beast with 185k miles will last me another 100k!

I cleaned out the iac when I had a different problem. I've also clean my throttle body, manifold and a series of other goodies but nothing. Furthermore after all my investment it burns more then a gt
