Needing input for top end work!

Okay, okay! I have a lifter tick AND a leak in my valve cover gasket. I had thought for a long time that is was a rear main (untrustworthy shop told me so) but a shop run by my friends dad set me straight today. Phew! That means $500 saved... Because I have no lift or tranny jack, that was why I was going to have shop do rear main...

Anyways! I do have the means to do top end work. Which means I plan on pulling the intakes and covers (not the heads since the head gasket was done 10k miles ago) I plan on replacing lower and upper intake gaskets and the leaking valve cover gasket. I also plan on pin pointing the lifter that's ticking while praying it didn't damage the cam at all and replace it. My question is should I do all the lifters and pushrods while I'm in there and what else? I'm not really caring about performance cause it's just my daily driver so if the cam is fine I'm keeping it don't need a supersix lumpy cam or whatever lol.

Also question regarding 8.8 rear end. I would definitely like one for both tires spinning, but should I get a stock one with low miles or get one and rebuild it with 4.10. Like I said earlier performance isn't a huge deal, I just think the 8.8 would give me better traction in this nebraska winter.

Thank all for your time!!

Also an extra tidbit, I know in couple engines you're actually capable of taking out the lifter through the hole the pushrod goes through. Does anyone know whether it's possible on the 3.8l?

Also, on the gaskets should I use a type of sealant or glue to?

Using a light bit of RTV on the valve cover gaskets is always a good idea and will help to keep them in place as u put things back together! For ur lifter all u should need to do is some adjustment unless the lifter has collapsed? If u replace one though u should replace them all!!! They usually come in a kit anyway.

Btw the 8.8 is only gana give u a limited slip if u start spinning u start spinning but with 2 tires instead of 1 lol if it's ur daily driver I would not go with a 4:10 gear.
