If you're on a low budget and want FI then go turbo. Run low boost and you'll be fine..for a little while.
The truth is to go FI the correct way is not cheap. Build the motor pre FI and support that added power with better suspension, braking, and traction mods. It will cost much more but your car will be better off to manage the power/stress from the FI application.
