Underdrive pulleys

I was looking around trying to find a way to free up some more hp and better Milage. I found someone who said they put on some under drive pulleys and I was wondering how that would help. Could anyone tell me how it helps and if it's worth it?

Not sure. Hopefully a better explanation can be found, but I remember hearing it gives more tension to certain things altering power load to accessories??

UDP's are the biggest waste of money you can do on our cars while it's still N/A

Don't do it. Only do it if you're supercharging it, and only after you already have that SC installed.

25 % UDP gave me a more power and better gas mileage UDP on a S/C motors lower the boost So no UDP with a S/C plus greater chance of belt slipping Not enough surface area for the belt to hold onto the compressor pulley

They don't really "free up" HP as they do mostly allow your engine to "rev up" faster!..

they do allow more horsepower to be used to move the car instead of used to pull accessories.remember physics in high school? small crank pully means the belt isn't moving as fast so it doesn't turn the accessories as fast hence less power used

bad idea to do that with a supercharged motor in most cases.

@op i'll say they would be delightful for the money if you've already tossed other bolt ons in the mix. mainly because as a first mod it would be kinda pricey when other things can be done first for less. Remember when chasing power every little bit can count.
